“Opus 4.5 Collapsed Six Months of Development Work Into One Week” by Dan Shipper/Chain of Thought: Dan Shipper built an iOS reading companion app without writing or looking at a single line of code. Before AI, this would’ve taken three to six months of developer work. Read this and learn that the real breakthrough isn’t speed but something else entirely.
“Think First, AI Second” by Ines Lee: When ChatGPT went down one afternoon, economist Ines Lee froze—she couldn’t articulate a key concept because her explanations lived in chat history she could no longer access. Read this for Ines’s three principles for the age of AI—think before you prompt, use AI as a coach not a cheerleader, and engineer friction that forces you to explain your reasoning—plus seven custom prompts you can use now.
“Claude Code: The Most Common Questions Beginners Ask” by Nityesh Agarwal/Source Code: Two hundred people with no coding experience joined Every’s Claude Code for Beginners workshop last month—and eight hours later, they’d each built and deployed a working project. Nityesh Agarwal compiled the 23 questions they asked —“Do I need a premium subscription?” and “How is Claude Code different from Cursor?” and much more. Read this if you’re getting started with Claude Code because your questions might already be answered here.
🎧 “Anthropic’s Newest Model Blew This Founder’s Mind—And Made Him Uncomfortable” by Rhea Purohit/AI & I: Paul Ford spent Thanksgiving weekend vibe coding a news tracker and a musical synthesizer with Opus 4.5 that left him wonderstruck, excited, and unsettled. In this conversation with Dan, Ford explains the anxiety behind a consulting industry forecast he asked Claude to generate, why he wants “nutritional guidelines” for LLMs, and why there’s “a fricking smack across the face” when old status markers of software are destabilized. 🎧 🖥 Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, or watch on X or YouTube.
🔏 “This Prompt Optimizer Learns From Its Mistakes Like DNA” by Mike Taylor/Also True for Humans: Tech leaders at Shopify, Databricks, and Dropbox have all become smitten with an obscure prompt optimization tool called GEPA. Mike used it to build an invoice extractor that showed quick accuracy improvements; GEPA also improved Spiral‘s creative writing prompts by 44 percent. Read this for a non-technical breakdown of how GEPA works and the broader lesson about working alongside LLMs.

Monologue speeds up dictation and adds import options
Monologue v1.0.55 brings faster dictation in testing—multi-minute clips now process in seconds—plus the ability to import your dictionary from Aqua Voice, Superwhisper, or Wispr Flow. General manager Naveen Naidu also added new audio settings with a live mic level meter and media pause when you start recording. Update to v1.0.55 for the latest upgrades.
Spiral’s Writing Styles just got an upgrade
Spiral rebuilt the engine behind Writing Styles, and drafts now match your voice—or the voice you’re emulating—far more closely. Spiral general manager Danny Aziz added one-click upgrades, direct style-guide editing so you can tune tone rules and phrase patterns yourself, and a cleaner setup flow with better guidance and more intuitive sample post selection. Coming soon: a community library of Writing Styles, plus chat-based refinement so Spiral can update your style as you write. Check out the updated Spiral.
Sparkle is being rebuilt as AI-native file organization
Sparkle is getting a ground-up rebuild. Instead of rules and schedules, the new version of our AI file organizer understands the context of your files, proposes a smart structure and a cohesive system, and lets you refine it with natural language. General manager Yash Poojary is putting together a team of 11 people who’ve used Sparkle or care deeply about file organization to help test and refine this new version. If that’s you, email yash@every.to.
Alignment
Sitting with ambiguity. Last week I bought Dwarkesh Patel’s book The Scaling Era: An Oral History. When it arrived, it felt like I was holding something of reverence, like a passage from the Secret History of the Mongols or a scroll from an ancient Greek philosopher. I couldn’t figure out why at first, but after reading a couple of chapters and letting it marinate, I think I know.
The feeling comes from reading history before it becomes history. The book captures the architects of artificial intelligence—Dario Amodei, Ilya Sutskever, and others—in their own words, from Patel’s hundreds of podcast interviews.
That’s not how history usually works. When you learn about it later, it always feels inevitable—of course the Allies were going to win World War II and Rome was going to fall. But when you live through a defining moment, nothing feels certain, and everything’s still up for grabs. That’s what makes this book strange to hold—because we’re still in the process of shaping what it documents.—Ashwin Sharma
